Web address terms

Lawyer review pending. This document was drafted in plain English and has not yet been reviewed by a lawyer.
These terms cover your web address (your domain name, like yourbusiness.com) when you use a website from Caribeam Inc., trading as Kohmera.
1. You own your web address
Your web address is yours. One you already have stays registered in your name with the company you bought it from (your registrar). One we register for you is listed in your business’s name (section 3).
2. If you already have one
You keep it where it is. We connect it to your new website: we send you the records to add, or, if you give us access, we add them for you at no extra cost. We never take ownership of it or move it to another company.
3. If you do not have one yet
We register one for you, included in your plan. You pick the name. We register it with Cloudflare in your business’s name, keep it in our Cloudflare account so we can manage its settings for you, and connect it to your website. We pay the registration and the yearly renewal while your subscription is active.
We register names ending in .com, .ca, .net and .org at their normal price. A .ca also needs to know who owns the business, because Canada’s registry requires it, and we ask you when you pick it.
4. Renewals
One we registered for you renews by itself while your subscription is active, at no cost to you.
One you bought yourself is renewed by your registrar, who bills you. If it expires, your website stops showing at that address until you renew it. We may remind you if we notice, but keeping it renewed is your responsibility.
5. Email on the same address
Connecting your website does not move your email. If your email uses the same web address, we only change the records your website needs.
6. Leaving
If you cancel, your web address stays yours. When your paid period ends we stop hosting the website.
One you bought yourself has nothing to transfer: point it anywhere you like. If we added records for you, we tell you which ones to change or remove.
One we registered for you, we transfer to you or to any registrar you choose, free, whenever you ask, including after you leave. Registries do not allow a transfer in the first 60 days after a name is registered, so in that case we move it as soon as those 60 days are up. If you have not asked for it within 30 days after your plan ends, we may let it expire at its next renewal date.
7. Things we cannot control
Registries and registrars have their own rules. A registry can suspend a name for reasons outside our control, for example a dispute or a missing verification email. We will help you fix it, but we cannot guarantee the outcome.
